Sadly, due to the pandemic, the trip to Chicago the third week in April is cancelled. Both the airline, United,and the hotel, Hilton London House, had no issues cancelling. It was a sad but certainly necessary step. But Chicago will always be there,
Worse, I received an email from my landlord inWeimar asking what I was going to do. Weimar is under basically the same circumstances we are here in New Jersey. All restaurants, bars, cinemas, etc are closed. They do go a little further in that the regulations do not allow "return" visits. Which basically means if you leave, do not come back. I had to tell him that as it stands now, I am not coming for July. We left it that we would revisit this decision at the end of April.
This is so disappointing I can't say. I am thankful that I and mine are all well but I have not been in the US during July and August for years and years. This is the time of year that I would be planning what I would be doing while there and also thinking about where I would want to be traveling inSeptember. But I still have a lot of hope. I may not get over there for 1 July but I do think I may be able to go for 1 August!
